The ZomBeetle Lab
Our Research Initiatives
Neuroparasitology
Our group studies neuroparasitology, the field of biology that explores how parasites manipulate the nervous systems of their hosts. We are most interested in Ophiocordyceps species, also known as Zombie Fungi, that infect weevils. By investigating how these fungi change insect behavior, we aim to better combat agricultural pests like the red palm weevil.
Technology in Education
Using technology like VR in education offers a sense of immersion that is hard to convey with traditional resources like textbooks. This enables students to feel as though they’re inside a cell or walking on another planet. VR can also improve accessibility by allowing students with physical disabilities to experience environments that may otherwise be difficult.
